25/09/2007 Work is not called work for no reason!!

Got given my in-depth work schedule for the next few months today, will be working in the Fabric Development Division on daily operations to gain an understanding of how the department works. Alongside this will be conducting a project to try and resolve some of the issues we have there with the mill master (a directory of approved fabric suppliers) I wont bore you all with the details but needless to say its going to be an intense workload, but looking forward to it a lot, will have to conduct quite a lot of meetings (I know, me conduct a meeting haha!).

For lunch today we went to this AMAZING vegetarian restaurant where we had fake duck/pork.chicken/fish etc etc haha, was sooo tasty!! They also served my favourite tea ever… Japanese rice tea…drank far too much, a bit embarrassing actually but I blame the teeny cup sizes!

This afternoon got my new apartment in SZ finalized. I shall be living in the bigger flat very near to work (less than 10minute walk…result!). I will post the pics separately to give you an idea of what it looks like, the views are amazing, there is LOADS of storage space and a spare room too! Should get my keys on the 8th which will give me a week to move across. Winsun from the IT dept is going to help me set up the internet and phone line so hopefully that will be up and running by the time I move in or shortly after… what a legend!

Because of the Mid-Autumn festival this evening we were allowed to leave the office early so I went to hunt down some cheap shoes, my ones just cannot handle the rain scenario! However accidentally ended up in quite an expensive store and got cajoled into trying on a (beautiful) pair of red leather loafers which I couldn’t afford so I made up a big lie about having to go and get some cash and then scampered quickly! I think I will have to adjust my shopping destinations… where is a Primark when you need one?!

I was planning to head off to Ikea tomorrow to get some new flat essentials but after an embarrassing incident at Park ‘n’ shop discovered that my bank card was not working aghh!! Got declined for a $80 purchase (about £5.50!) Phoned the bank when I got back to discover that they had blocked my card due to the suspicious activity on my account?! It turns out that despite me telling them (more than once) that I was moving to Hk they had not noted it on my account and thought someone had cloned it and was using it out here! Well at least I will save some cash this week until it is sorted…fecking idiots!! All I can say is thank god for the emergency credit card I have which means I was still able to buy my peanut butter and cookies…. Which whilst good do not in any way compare to the delights of the POUNDLAND bad boy versions! The bread out here is sooo expensive and noodles are ridiculously cheap! Guess I will be swapping sandwiches for noodle based snacks!

Tonight I plan to indulge in the new series of Desperate Housewives showing on Star World cable tv, whilst stuffing my face with lots of pre packaged food (still havnt got any crockery yet!). Hopefully a restful night sleep too, the last two nights I have had the CRAZIEST dreams which leave me exhausted in the mornings!

Hope that you are all well and not too bored of my updates already!
Anyone with a landline who does not have Skype, can you email it through to me so that I can call at some point (so cheap with those international calling cards!). Lots of Chinese love via the computer you are sat on (can you feel it?!)
Tx
