30/09/2007 Arrrgh Capt'n Tanya ahoy!
As I previously mentioned to you those paying attention my friend from the Uk is over visiting his family in Hk at the moment so took Jim down to Hk and we all went for a rather wild night out in the depths of Wanchai on Sat night involving multiple shots of tequila and a deadly long island iced tea concoction (7shots in one glass with a teeny bit of mixer!)– we went to a bar with live music, amazing live band I was convinced they had a tape recorder playing the originals hidden from view and that they were all pretending it sounded so good!
The next day full of hangover & drunken shame we headed out on D’s parents sailing boat with his family. Absolutely lush, we got the sails up and headed out to Po Toi, an outlying island south east of hong kong. With the wind blowing in our hair I was asked if I wanted to drive the boat, why yes I replied… that would be marvelous to revel in my pirate roots (under supervision of course, didn’t want to drive us accidentally into the cliff face, killing us all and destroying the expensive boat!)
Much MUCH harder than it looks the whole steering a sailing boat business, turning the wheel just so in one direction and then back in the other direction, just to stay in a straight line!
However, we did make it in one piece… thanks to my natural sea leg abilities me thinks arr! Once there we had some amazing sea food, and I have never seen a little 4year old boy eat SO much food in my life, esp considering we were eating giant prawns, squid, fish, curry noodles etc! After lunch went for a quick walk to see the temple (where the smallest woman in the world resided –actually could only have been no more than 3.5foot tall!!) then we headed back full steam ahead. Absolutely amazing day, certainly blew the cobwebs out the hair!
Attached some pics of my pirate experience for you to enjoy... Tx
