01/10/2007 October already??!!
I absolutely cannot believe it is October already… how has that happened? Have had quite a crazy busy weekend, its now a public holiday today (mon) so finally have a chance to sit down and rest!
So on Saturday full of hangover I headed down to Stanley on hk island with Mike for lunch, we went to a traditional English bar and I had some sausage and mash!! A glass of wine later and I felt right back to my normal self… funny that! Went for a tour around the market and to the beaches for a wander, couldn’t quite believe how warm the water was, super lush! The sand is not as nice as Sandbanks however…but I think short of the Caribbean Sandbanks will always win as a gorgeous beach! Sat down at a beachside bar to enjoy a nice cold TsingTao lager and enjoy the beach and have a chat.
Started to get dark so we decided to head out for dinner (the Chinese are ALWAYS eating yet stay so slim, need to investigate how this works!!)
Mike took me to the most amazing restaurant ever… its his local in Tai Wai and its certainly extremely local! On the table the provide you a bowl and decanter of tea to wash your plates and cups in, and the toilet was my very 1st experience of a ‘hole in the ground’ senario…hmmm!!
Dinner was superb, we sat outside and enjoyed a speciality that is a fish which has been placed into a salt barrel and steam cooked for a long time. The meat was just delicious, the fish however came out whole (head and everything!) Being a former vegetarian, wasn’t aware that it hadn’t been gutted and nearly started to tuck into the innards before Mike informed me what they were haha! Also had some duck and a dish I cant remember the name of but consists of a soup base with rice, shredded beef and bab oysters… it was yummy!
Saturday night, full and hangover free it seemed only right to indulge in another night out! Went to a lush members only club called Mono… lovely but no dancefloor.. and everyone who has experienced a night out with me knows how much I love to dance!! So a fairly quiet evening and home to rest!
Yesterday I met some friends from work and we went to Ocean Park, a theme park on hk island. It was the opening night of the Halloween festivities so was open late with lots of scary monsters etc!! I was a bit disappointed to not go on any rollercoaster’s however… we instead went to about 6 haunted houses (I mean after the 2nd they are kind of the same!!). So, I will have to go back another time and indulge my adrenaline fix!!
Will post some pics too in a minute, I’m so tired today and on a bit of a dip after my busy 1st fortnight (feels like I have been here for ages already!). Miss everyone loads… though not the Uk weather from what I have been told it is getting really cold! Unlike here which is averaging at 32C!! So hot, and all I can hear is Chinese people going well at least it has cooled down a bit now….um hello?!! Haha, Im such a limey with no heat tolerance!
Lots more love for you, Im spoiling you right!!
Tx
