08/10/2007 Being groomed… and scalped!

This weekend started in the traditional hk style… with a party of course! Friday night I went to a new bar opening (I seem to have made friends with a well connected group!!). Any drink that you wanted was free woo hoo… had far too many mojitos, tequila sunrises and cosmopolitans, how very Carrie Bradshaw of me! Needless to say with free drinks on the menu and an amazing live jazz band I had myself a damn good time but as per usual did over indulge somewhat… seems to be the story of my life! I had to spend all of Saturday recovering by the pool soaking up some sunshine… ooh it’s a hard life!

Sat night I downloaded series One of Heroes… now whilst it cannot surely even slightly compete with the legendary programme that is 24, it is proving to be a contender for my top 10 tv shows! For those who do not know it, it is about a group of individuals in the US (isn’t it always… when will have decent UK tv that isn’t some depressing soap opera!) Anyways, they all have some sort of super human power but are just coming to terms with it and slowly they must master their power, seek out one another and save the world from an Armageddon! Stayed up far too late last night watching the first 5 episodes. It helped to take my mind off of the kittens that I saw in a pet shop yesterday… OMG soooo cute I stood like a loony outside the window coo-ing and smiling like a mentalist for a good 20minutes! I really really really really REALLY want a kitten! I know I cant though so it adds to my anguish and pet envy hehe!

Met Celina today in Central (actually sat writing this in the hairdressers waiting for her to finish her haircut). She has taken me for a grooming session, nails waxing, haircut etc.
So yet another example of how things can get lost in translation… that I now have to LIVE WITH until nature takes its time to repair the damage…. I thought –I’m with Celina, she can speak English/Canotnese what can go wrong… until they separated us… despite my hairstyle research pictures somewhere along the line me saying ‘just a trim, Im growing it and can I please have a tiny bit of a long fringe type effect too please’ got converted into ‘ah, let me scalp you, cut all your hair off and make you look ridiculous!’
Ok, so I am exaggerating slightly but didn’t exactly get the effect I wanted, at least its hair and it grows back (I hope so after my wax incident but that is a story for another time altogether!). Also, for some reason they didn’t have any straightening irons in the salon and you all know how naturally curly my hair is so until I get home and GHD the life out of my poor hair and drown it in hairspray I have to walk around looking like an absolute wombat.. I would use stronger language here but have to refrain on account of the parental / grandparent readers, didn’t think you would appreciate any foul language nan!
As soon as I leave here it is being pinned back and re-styled once I get home… going to the hairdressers is so stressful.. and you have to pay for the privilege, now what is that all about!!!

So another weekend over.. they go far too quickly don’t they?! I do however love that I look forward to work every day, Im still so busy (although they assure me that this is a quiet period –what have I let myself in for I wonder!) and yet again did bring work home to look over this weekend but as per usual it has sat neglected in the corner since Friday night! Ive finally got paid now that I have my Hk bank account set up but until I get my ATM card still cannot withdraw any cash.. was supposed to go and collect it Saturday morning but Friday nights antic soon destroyed that plan!

So, just got in have washed my hair and will re-style it and post a picture for your opinions!!

Miss you all as usual… update me soon… lots of love from bald Tanya!! xx
