09/10/2007 More) Food & Vanity!!

The View and my new big fat armchair!!

More food updates for you… I must make you all hungry reading this! Went for a steak on Sunday night…another 1st time experience. I had a 8oz Wagyu steak… Japanese beef that has been taken very good care of and therefore is supposed to taste much better. I don’t have any basis for comparison but I can tell you that it tasted sooo good! We were given a table hot skillet to cook it on and I have decided that I definitely seem to prefer my steak very much rare to the point of nearly live cow… mmm was so yummy! I was so full up afterwards however that I had to pass on party opportunity… very unusual! Glad I did however because I am tired enough as it is today, beginning to understand the stigma surrounding Mondays!

So after my last entry it seems I was somewhat quick to judge the ‘bad’ haircut! Either you are all on some joint conspiracy to cheer me up, or else it actually is a good look for me, so thanks to all who sent their appreciation! Speaking of appearances, have noticed the funniest thing… everyone in HK/China refers to me as ‘the white girl’. I mean, I know I am and if the situation was reversed at an office in UK I would probably call that girl ‘the Asian girl’ but its sooo weird to hear! Does have its advantages though, for some reason I have acquired the status of a semi-successful model type figure out here! I have gone from not offensive ugly to being told I am the most beautiful girl they have seen… honestly, like at least once a day! Woohoo, its worth the 12hour flight and price tag that goes with it just for the ego massage!!

So I went to properly check out my new place in Shenzhen today… its SO lush!! And completely massive in comparison to my HK place! I have 2bedrooms, 2bathrooms, 2balconies, a huge lounge/diner and more storage than I know what to do with (although I have an idea forming already…shoppy shop shops!!). I also cannot believe the view, Im attaching a pic with this blog or the panoramic scene from the front balcony (My apartment is in the Luxury Suite Tower by the way oooh!). Next week I am going to post a video tour… excuse me if it seems a little like I am boasting but compared to 4years in Galashiels living in a Belinda Nunn Special house, with the delights of Saturday night Indigos crowd passing under my window at 4am (remember the insane drunk shouting man Lindsay..haha) this is like being in a palace by comparison! I should have my address soon (for all those parcels you are going to send hehe) and will email it through.

Only disadvantages… no landline yet but I am going to probably set up a telephone line via Skype (works in principal like a landline phone). Also, no cooker!! Apparently this is a very western thing to own in the kitchen… most Asian cooking is done on the hob… looks like an excuse to continue to dine out to me, especially with my new favourite Japanese restaurant so close to my place (in the same building as work), the dinners are so cheap, around $30 (2GBP) for a big bowl of thick noodles (udon noodles), main dish, side dish (usu. Ginger samosas or rice rolls) and a drink.. Incredible!

Well other news just quickly in (latest headlines!) just got back from dinner where I had Roast Pigeon!! It was actually delicious… came out with the head still attached and everything eek! Time for bed nearly again.. these blogs are getting a tad repetitive aren’t they! Lots of love from me, wo ai ni hor wan an! xx
