17/10/2007 New Beginnings

I’m finally unpacked! Pictures on the wall, my own bedding (of course it is red!) a cupboard stocked full of instant noodles and wafer type things that have sugar in them, couldn’t tell what else exactly since all the food in the supermarket is in Chinese! Bought what I thought was Chinese tea only to discover that it is actually some sort of instant gravy (actually not sure if it is even that but wasn’t going to try it!) Have uploaded a picture to show what the shopping experience is like! Basically take a Chinese friend, only buy very obvious things like fruit and veg, or do what I do and play food list lucky dip!! The best part is that you cannot read the calorie content which equals judgement free uncontrollable biscuit frenzies!
I have also inserted a picture of a roast pigeon like the one I ate a few weeks ago… purely because me and Laura were discussing it on Skype and she was like ‘what do mean with the head attached what does it look like?’ so I told her to Google it for a picture and that picture came back. Laura’s response is still bringing an uncontrollable giggle to my face… I actually couldn’t breathe it was that hilarious!! hahaha
It is so nice to be only 5minutes from work now, now I get an extra hour in bed and still get to the office an hour earlier than I was when I was staying in Hk! Also on nights like tonight when finishing a bit later its no big deal… which I should stop boasting about because my boss is bound to take advantage of it! Really starting to throw myself head first into work. I am currently researching all about our mill vendors (who we get fabric from). Have my weekly review meeting tomorrow morning so I spent the day checking I had achieved everything on the checklist from last weeks meeting or else have a damn good reason prepared for why not!
Also got an email today asking me to attend a breakfast meeting with the big cheeses next week (the company owners) they hold one every month with a different group of people each time. It’s a chance to meet and greet properly… and to ask questions, which Im presuming I am expected to do… my last meeting with the CEO’s was not that successful (in my defence was jet lagged deluxe!) started rabbiting on about absolute horse shite.. bet they were thinking ‘oh great we accidentally flew over a bint’ aghh!
So, I am desperate to make a better impression this time by asking some interesting questions about the company’s expected future progress and by throwing in some well thought out intriguing dilemmas for them to ponder also!! The effect I am aiming for is Big Boss: (head scratch) ‘Well Tanya you seem to have hit upon a interesting topic, Im afraid I will have to go and research this and come back to you later with some answers. I am awfully sorry to have disappointed you at this time but I do congratulate you for your wonderfully insightful comments’ So basically any suggestions people??
So far all I come up with is… ‘Do you not feel that Grey, whilst a serious business like colour, is rather drab as our company logo [insert reference to own illustration skills here] ??’
Or else: ‘do you think we could start a new policy for after lunch naps, given the nature of the large Chinese lunch I feel it would ultimately benefit our afternoon performance?’
Whilst I feel valid suggestions maybe best saved for another time… looking forward to receiving your answers!
Tonight’s schedule involves more Hero watching.. only 5 to go… Im definitely hooked like a yellow finned tuna on OD’s fly rod! Only one more day at work this week then I get to enjoy yet ANOTHER public holiday (3rd in a month).. I knew this moving to China business had its perks! Going to spend my day off on a Junk Boat trip where you go out on a big boat for the day and get lots of yummy food/drink and island tours with plenty of swimming (except for me, don’t trust those pesky sharks… I blame damn Jaws!). The weather has cooled considerably, now only around 22C so it will be one of the last chances to get out on the boats before the ‘winter’ season!!
Miss you of course (standard comment now on here) and could really do with quite possibly the world’s largest group hugsy! Lots of love from my new pad,
Tx
