17/11/2007 Work update
Well the presentations went well. As you know I had two. The first one in the morning was to the clients and a lot of us have been working hard on it for a couple of months now. In fact, when meeting the clients it was supposed to be presented by senior management only, but I asked that I be included in the meeting since it would be a good learning experience for me (and for once a meeting that takes place entirely in English!). For the purpose of the meeting I had my name card updated from ‘Graduate trainee’ to ‘Executive trainee’ which I found quite amusing but also secretly want to start using full time!
The other presentation was about my research project I was working on, and it has now entered the 2nd stage of implementing some proposed solutions, which will include working with the IT Tech dept on an upgrading data input system, which sounds really fancy but actually what happened was that my findings correlated with that existing project so now we can join forces.
Christmas is a coming and I seem to have made an impact with my tiny designated corner of crimbo which comprises of 2 advent calendars (Many thanks Paula & Jim) and my xmas cards (Janet & Nan getting a special mention here, thank you so much!!)
As a result a couple of departments have decided to decorate, and not only a little, they have gone all out (and Im taking tinsel and ornaments to the max!). One department are even throwing a Christmas party! Bless, I feel a little more in the Christmas spirit now, although a wee bit homesick for the 1st time since the festive season has crept up all so suddenly!
Have switched departments this week, following my 3month appraisal (which went really well I am pleased to report!)… 3months already, crazy! I am now working in the Product Development dept for the next 2months which will involve a lot of meetings in Hk since the dept is based there. The work is similar but more focused on trend research etc than the technical details of the fabric dept.
Well I think that is me mostly updated on the goss from this end, its strange you would think after 2weeks I would have loads and loads to write but its actually better to do it every few days otherwise I feel as if I am only serving up the semi skimmed version!
Sending you all some early crimbo greetings and seasonal wishes,
Lots of Tanya love xx
