08/09/2008 - Sweater machinery
Thought Id share some textile shizzle with you all, like the blog to be semi educational as well as entertaining ;-)
Here are a couple of specialised machines being used in the sweater factories:
Shima - automatic knitting machines, all knitting patterns are created in the computer and then uploaded to the machine which can then automatically knit the panel. Depending on how complicated the style is and the yarn thickness the machine can on average output around 2.5 times more pieces per day than the manual traditional hand looms.
Also- 3D light boxes, used to put the knitted garment over the top to check for holes etc.
