16/12/2008 - The morning judgement eyes of Mong Kok

In the style of groundhog day, it is inevitable that you pass some of the same people every day going about their morning routine, in fact, quite often you can literally set your watch by them.
On my journey to the MTR there is the 'Happy Man' who either has a facial twitch or is actually the happiest man on the planet as he always has the largest grin on his face. Also along the way we see a man who has a wee stall set up at the side of the road selling calligraphy inks and such like (just in case you need art materials at 8am - !). And occasionally if we are lucky, a teeny tiny Chinese man who stops dead in our tracks, looks up at us, and makes a 'wooooooaaahhh' noise of amazement, which I always find incredibly amusing.
On the other side of the train, on my walk to work I always pass two particular groups. Both sets are always, and without fail, sat in the same positions on their teeny tiny little pointless stools, which seem to be all the rage here in Hk. One group as I exit the station, the other just before I enter my work building, both seem to have the same morning agenda.... JUDGMENT. Every single morning I get the judgment eyes from them. They very much openly give a staredown and outfit evaluation complete with comments. Paranoia one may assume, but a true story none the less.
I wonder if this is a morning ritual for all passerby's of the fashion police community groups?
And secondly... why are they too not on their way to work?
A puzzled and judged Tanya sending my love
xx
