19/04/2009 - High Seas
Not to be put off by the HK lashings of cloud and rain, we set sail on our junk adventure yesterday. All you can eat and drink and a boat full of gweilos is a guaranteed recipe for messiness. Id share some of the scandal, but past midday its all a bit of a blur.
Google tells me that:
'A junk is a Chinese sailing vessel. Junks were originally developed during the Han Dynasty (220 BC–200 AD) and were used as ocean going vessels as early as the 2nd century AD. They were further evolved in the later dynasties and used for extensive ocean voyages. Junks represent one of the most successful ship types in history.'
I suspect in actual fact they are named Junks due to the fact that you feel so utterly rubbish the next day after subjecting your body to the grueling 8 hour punishment of continuous alcohol intake whilst on a boat.
