I recently attended quite a funky event called Speak Up! organised by a company called E.V.E.N.T.
It occurs once a month and the purpose of it is to bring together artists from all disciplines to mingle and showcase their work.
It was really quite inspiring to see so many creative people in one room.

My friend Shiarah demonstrated her vocal talents (awesome), Beat Trix tore up the dance floor, and a trumpet player wooed the crowd with a soulful jazz number before surprising us all by following it up with a terrible attempt at rap (bad idea!), and they even set the bar alight whilst some serious cocktail flairing was demonstrated, Best of all, they provided a platform for anyone who wanted to tout / promote / shout out about their work or future events.

Deciding to follow the advice of my pencil pimp and get my work out there 'any way, any how' I have contacted the event organisers and should be showcasing some shizzle sometime soon, exciting.
