My fear of cotton wool has a name:
Bambakomallophobia
Bet you can sleep easy tonight now that you know that.
Bambakomallophobia is the phobia of cotton wool when touched, ripped apart or sometimes just on sight. A phobia (from the Greek ᅬニᅬフᅫ봬ᅬツ "Phobos" meaning Fear), is an irrational, intense, persistent fear of certain situations, objects, activities, or persons. The main symptom of this disorder is the excessive, unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. When the fear is beyond one's control, or if the fear is interfering with daily life, then a diagnosis under one of the anxiety disorders can be made. In the case of Bambakomallophobia the sufferer will experience symptoms from a mild unwillingness to touch or tear cotton wool apart to the fear of even touching it. The name of the phobia is derived from the Greek for cotton, ᅫ봬뫠퇘봷ᅫ쵀ᄍ (Bambaki) and wool ᅫ퇘뫠쾌쾚(malli)
