16/04/2010 - Birthday Poem
Recv'd from a colleague today. Made me chuckle...
Once upon a time,
a baby girl was born in town,
the girl's warm personality is her greatest charm,
every years on that date, she was drunk... with celebration time,
somehow she has come to this eastern ground,
and the celebration is come on next week sometime,
Hey girl, do you have time?

Lai See Packet, containing not cash as is customary this time of year for cny, but instead what appears to be Buddist scriptures (in chinese):

04/11/2009 - FATTY

As you are probably aware from previous posts, my blessed Chinese colleagues are renowned for speaking their mind on your weight (and often in a non-complimentary fashion) much to the offence of the westerner in question (Gasp! Did they actually just call me a gigantic ugly disgusting gweilo?!!).
It has obviously become a widespread problem in western expat communities, prompting the action of one particular English teaching school here in HK, who have filmed and aired the most hilarious commercial all about how, in western society, it is impolite to comment upon one's weight. They recommend instead of shouting you FAT PIG, the use of the phrase 'you look well'.
I saw it on the bus this morning (as I was scoffing a scone that contains fat content highly contagious to my ass) on the way to work and couldn't stop giggling.
I tried googling the flock out of it but to no avail, but if I spot it again Ill be sure to get it up online somehow.
