26/01/2011 – Fish FAIL

An event planning friend of ours recently had a last minute star fangled idea that what he was missing to wow the socks off of his corporate clients was a sh*t tonne of Koi carp. A trip to the pet shop and several thousand dollars later, he had a fully stocked fish bar that would suitably excite the eyeballs of the grey suited men at their annual shindig.

THEN we learnt the terrible news that these newly rehomed fish were to be cruelly tossed out on to the street (maybe even literally). The manfriend launched an immediate rescue plan and, accompanied by my squeals of despair, the fish were safely relocated to a half way home, namely a large bucket on the balcony.

Without pond, we could merely offer our foster services to these poor, helpless, cold blooded souls. The search was on for a suitable match and we launched an appeal to our friends blessed enough not to be living inside a cardboard box built for midgets.

Alas! A short while later, a local rock god answered our plea for assistance and signed up to adopt the golden scaly creatures. They would roam free in a luxurious pond in the unpolluted lands of Clearwater Bay. We congratulated one another and foresaw the imminent karma that would be bestowed upon us.

BUT THEN [cue sudden change of background music to creepy sad tones of woe] I began to suspect something was amiss as I ascended the staircase and my nostrils were assaulted with the strong stench of our fishy friends. Building courage to confirm what I knew in my heart to be true, I crept hesitantly towards the big red bucket to see

THIS…

A sad twisted aquarium version of apple bobbing. Yet again, we had failed a small creature :(
Filled with sadness I slowly prepared a temple of rest for those cruelly taken by the persistent ever present reaper of PET DEATH.

One small Nemo miracle twist of fate did occur as I emptied the bucket of slimy fishy death juice... a small glimmer of gold that was moving, yes MOVING! A lone survivor. Despite being a carp of limited cognitional capacity, I still felt sorry for it having spent the best part of its day swimming amongst its dead friends. I immediately launched rescue PLAN 2.
Lets cross our fingers for a full rehabilitation...

RIP may the great pond in the sky be filled with happiness.

21/01/2011 - Year of the Rabbit

1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999

People born in the Year of the Rabbit are articulate, talented, and ambitious. They are virtuous, reserved, and have excellent taste. Rabbit people are admired, trusted, and are often financially lucky. They are fond of gossip but are tactful and generally kind. Rabbit people seldom lose their temper. They are clever at business and being conscientious, never back out of a contract. They would make good gamblers for they have the uncanny gift of choosing the right thing. However, they seldom gamble, as they are conservative and wise. They are most compatible with those born in the years of the Sheep, Pig, and Dog.

09/11/2010 - Oscar

By Craig:
OBITUARY: Dear friend and flat mate, king of moggies, Oscar - otherwise known as the Dog Cat - died at 2.12 a.m. after a sudden illness. He was about seven years old. His life was lived to the fullest, consisting of 60 p.c. sleeping, 10 p.c. eating, 10 p.c. spaz attacks at 10 p.m. every night and 20 p.c. giving himself over to receiving affection. Oscar was rescued by Shannon as a wee infant from the streets of Hong Kong and transported to the lofty heights of Zenith Mansions where he spent the rest of his life roaming the roof top balcony, digging up plants, chasing bats, entertaining security guards and educating his new human pets about the joys of hanging with a cat.
He trained many humans, including Grace, Ane Mari, PHP and Vivi, before settling with Craig for the remainding 4 years of his life.

His affectionometer peaked when he met Pirate and all concerns about his homosexuality disappeared as he showered her with love. His daily greetings included foot love in the morning and the flip-to-back moanouevre for submissive tummy scratchings on arrival from work at night. He demanded nothing more than to be allowed to ride around on shoulders when he was not getting enough attention and he was wont to make his displeasure felt at being left alone for longer than two days (with maid care, it should be added) strongly by depositing his tiny nuggets in places of human rest. Oscar's legacy was to turn even the most ardent dog lover into a cat sympathiser. He is survived by Pirate and Craig and shall be sadly missed.

22/08/2010 - Cats

So, who knows who has the time to compile this shizzle but someone felt is necessary to invent a website called catsthatlooklikehitler.com and invite people to post pictures of their cats - who look like Hitler (or Kitler as they are known)... some 5000 people did.

Also stumbled across this cute fella who has a top hat!

No comments please about how I have time to find all of these random very useless websites, let alone share them with you guys ....

13/08/2010 - Cockroach ATTACK

Last night I narrowly escaped the cruel clutches of a conniving cockroach, intent on making a nest for its baby eggs in my inner ear canal, which would in time hatch and bury a tunnel into my BRAIN which would then rupture in an atomic bomb of ugly ass cockroach infants and grey matter !!!

Let me share my terrifying tale...

I was snuggled up in bed with the man, freshly laundered sheets, fan blowing a cool gentle breeze across the room, on the pleasantly dizzy cusp of dreamland about to be whisked off by the sleep fairies for a magical twilight adventure....

WHEN CAPT COCKROACH MADE HIS DEADLY SHOCK N AWE ATTACK

Cunningly disguised at first as a small hair tickle, my sleepy slumber state was soon replaced by HIGH ALERT after it fast became apparant that something alien was charging for the sacred earhole!!!

Luckily the man is semi growing a beard and is therefore hard core - like rambo - and leaped upon the scary beast with his bare hands, blocking the statanic bugs route of retreat and capturing it in a small transparent prison cell. (my hero) for we shall not leap the depths of its kind, and shall spare its insect life as an example to others....

Bluuuughghhh!

19/07/2010 - Ocean park

What better excuse to act like a 5yr old and scream in delight about willingly having the bejeezus scared out of you on probably not too safe rides.

Ocean Park also has some cool aquarium features:

And some apparently 'adorable' breeds of goldfish which was eerily akin to a Halloween experiment gone wrong
